The Geneva International Motor Show: The most influential global gathering for the automotive industry

Geneva International Motor Show

The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) has announced initiatives that will make its 2022 edition more global, immersive and experiential than ever before. This is the latest step in achieving the organizing foundation’s ambition of ensuring that GIMS becomes the most influential global gathering for the automotive industry, not only reflecting change but driving it.

New initiatives announced today are focused on ensuring greater impact, engagement, influence and reach for exhibitors and the media, while making GIMS 2022 even more exciting for visitors, and facilitating important global industry discussions.

For the first time ever, GIMS 2022 will feature a Main Stage on which industry leaders will give keynote speeches and take part in expert panel discussions around the topics and issues shaping the global automotive sector. This will be complemented by informal Accelerator Hubs that allow participants to take part in short expert talks, as well as networking areas and a VIP gala dinner.

In 2022, GIMS’ valuable press days will become more exclusive, ensuring that the world’s most influential opinion-formers are given greater access to exhibitors and their products. Every exhibitor will have the opportunity to broadcast their press conferences via GIMS’ own digital platform.

This platform gives a world of car buyers and enthusiasts access to GIMS for the first time ever. More than 80 hours of curated content will be broadcast over the platform, allowing users to discover show highlights and access exclusive content, as well as view exhibitor’s live streams. As well as obvious benefits for consumers, the digital platform allows exhibitors and speakers to amplify their reach to nearly 200 countries worldwide.

Visitors will also find GIMS 2022 to be a more engaging experience than ever before. For example, a bespoke GIMS Track will allow visitors and media to test drive exhibitor’s latest zero and low emission vehicles.

Sandro Mesquita, CEO of GIMS, said: “As we all know, the automotive sector is changing at a faster pace than ever before. In developing the 91st edition of the GIMS we have looked to redefine the traditional motor show for the 2020s and beyond, reflecting the changing ways people consume media, make buying decisions and seek entertainment.

“It is also important to us that GIMS doesn’t only reflect change, but actively promotes and facilitates it with the introduction of our Main Stage, Accelerator Hubs and networking areas.”

GIMS 2022 press days are due to take place on 17 – 18 February, with the show opening to the public from 19 to 27 February.
